GATX Logistics Breaks Ground On New Distribution Center

STOCKTON, June 29--GATX Logistics, Inc., one of the largest asset-based providers of contract logistics services, has begun construction on a 505,000 square-foot distribution center in Stockton, California. When completed, GATX Logistics will operate the facility under contract for one of the largest makers of ready-to-eat cereals and other grain-based convenience foods. GATX Logistics will provide full-service distribution services to its client through this facility. It is the largest build-to-suit distribution facility built on the fast-growing Interstate 5 corridor since a 490,000 square-foot commercial building was constructed in 1994.

The distribution center will feature 30-foot clear height ceilings, 50-foot by 50-foot column spaces, an ESFR sprinkler systems, 56 dock doors and 18 rail doors. GATX Logistics is scheduled to take occupancy in November.

Catellus Development Corporation has been hired to develop the facility. AWe chose Catellus for this project because of our past experience with them as a developer and their track record as a provider of quality buildings,@ said Pamela Zoellner, vice president of real estate for GATX Logistics.
